I was admitted to film school in 1994, on my fifth attempt. It’s been a great ride so far! A lot of adventures, successes, failures, friends, fights and long days. When I left Helsinki -filmi in 2024, I considered reinventing myself completely. Maybe I want to do something different?
But it only took an hour to realise that making films is what am. But maybe with a slightly different take? Keeping the company agile enables me to only produce and write things I really love. It can be big or small, domestic or international, but it has to have a meaning and it needs to have an audience. There can be only so many things one can burn for.
On top of that, I am happy to help other people produce and write things they really love, in the capacity of an executive producer or co-producer. I can do rewrites for other writers gotten stuck, anonymously if so preferred. Helping others is rewarding and you learn a lot.
But there is nothing between these two.
I also want to see if it is possible to renew the way we work in our line of business. But I’ll write about that in a separate post later.
